Acupuncture & IVF Success

What is IVF?

In vitro fertilization is a fertility process in which mature ova (eggs) are fertilized with sperm in a lab setting. After the egg have been fertilized, it is transferred to your uterus where it will hopefully attach to your uterine lining and you can carry out your pregnancy. IVF can be a tricky process as there are many factors that can effect fertility medication receptivity, egg & embryo quality, and implantation success.

How Acupuncture Increases IVF Success:

  • Increases ovarian receptivity to gonadotropins (FSH medications such as Menopur, Puragon and Gonal – F etc) by increasing blood flow and circulation to ovaries

  •  Benefits egg and embryo quality

  • Reduces side effects to the medications such as mood changes, bloating and headaches

  • Improves implantation, pregnancy, and live birth rates in IVF patients

  • Helps manage stress and reduce anxiety surrounding the embryo transfer

For best results, acupuncture is recommended to start 90 days before an IVF cycle begins, but you can start anytime and will still benefit!
